Lava illuminated the night as it spewed and flowed from Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano on Sunday (January 11). According to the U.S. Geological Survey, Kilauea has been erupting episodically since December 23, 2024. Seismic tremor and spattering increased overnight, signalling the possible onset of a new eruptive episode, the 40th of the current year-long eruption, according to the USGS, which also said gas emissions from the volcano remain high, producing volcanic air pollution downwind. #volcano #ki
