The Rohilla rescue took place over three days during World War I, starting on 30 October 1914. The hospital ship was enroute to help the wounded at Dunkirk when she hit rocks off Whitby. What followed is a remarkable story of endurance, involving seven lifeboats from four stations. 84 people were lost, 145 were saved.
