We like to say our Pineywoods cattle are forage fed. While they often munch on the native warm season grasses growing in the 250 acre pasture, they also eat a few other plants: switchcane, sweetgum, and Spanish moss just to name a few. Here one of our herd is eating swichcane (Arundinaria tecta), a native bamboo found in the southeastern coastal plain. The pineywoods cattle are part of our Ecopasture Initiative, which incorporates cattle grazing to achieve dynamic ecosystem responses. Find out m
