AC to DC Conversion Circuit - O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum
I'm not going to try to follow the wiring from a picture, but my wiring diagram will do the task you are talking about. You asked for a wiring diagram, I provided one. One switch selects either AC or DC on the tracks, the other switch swaps the polarity on the rails. I believe that was the object of the exercise, right?

How much current do they draw? If they're not current hogs, I'd just use a bridge rectifier, capacitor, and a three terminal regulator to generate the correct voltage. If you use an LM317T, you can "tune" the DC voltage to the voltage that makes them work their best.
is there any o gauge transformers that i could use for ac and dc
If you run postwar and prewar, then why do you need DC? I happen to have some G gauge trains, and it would be nice to not have to invest in separate power supplies. The BridgeWerks transformer is primarily DC but has a 24 volt AC output. That's too much voltage for prewar and postwar trains, and there isn't a good throttle/controller available to handle and cap that much …

Wiring the motors in series is a good move no matter what. Honestly your best and only option to achieve any type of independent control would be to install an ERR AC/DC commander. (I wouldn't spend extra money for the Cruise Commander because in my experience, the inexpensive can motors in those Alcos are prone to cogging , and don't respond well to any …

Feb 20, 2024 · I don't have the wiring diagram however most Flyer universal AC/DC motors ran the field coil and armature in series so if one of the brushes mounts on the frame the other brush goes to the field winding and the other end of the field goes to center rail. It looks like the right brush holder is mounted in the frame so by reversing the field coil connections to the insulated …

Jan 3, 2024 · This building reminds me of the gym. When I go during the day, they're serenading the 70+ year olds with AC/DC music when they should probably be playing 50's/60's music. Seems a little modern and out of touch to me.
Re: common and max voltages for most eletronic item types
Apr 11, 2024 · Many Lionel products (trains, engines, and action or sound cars) 18V AC is recommended maximum. Many accessories are 10-16V and some have specific requirements so ALWAYS read the manual. Again, some like the swing ride must have 16V AC, others that might be on the high side. My advice and rule for our club layout- never ever go over 19V to the …
