Pat planned to emigrate many times over the years, and by 2011 Pat was spending months at a time in New Zealand anyway because St Clement was on a part time contract, I believe.

So Alfies time there was definitely remembered, but I suspect that extra detail that Ian wasn't landlord wasn't.
