Good Morning San Diego: Padres, Mets could be working to make a trade, but that does not mean Francisco Lindor is coming to San Diego
Former San Diego closer Robert Suarez signed a deal with the Atlanta Braves, Thursday and that has only breathed new life into the possibility of a Miller trade. Preller has stated that he is not looking to trade Miller or any of the other top arms in his bullpen, but he has also said in previous interviews that he will listen on anyone.
As of now, the Padres are reportedly listening to trade offers on a few of their star players, including closer Mason Miller and starter Nick Pivetta. But the Padres could also look to add some talent at the big league level, including a talented outfielder.
David Stearns and Co. have inquired about Padres flamethrower Mason Miller, according to The Post’s Jon Heyman . The Mets are one of “many teams,” per Heyman, looking at trading for Miller. Heyman added that the Padres love Miller “as much as anyone and would need to be overwhelmed” in a potential deal.
Five months after giving up a huge cache of players to acquire Mason Miller, the San Diego Padres are at least fielding interest in their star closer.

Cassavell added another report where he outlines the needs of the Padres, and reminds fans that with Preller you can always expect something. The New York Mets need an outfielder and could acquire one in a trade with the San Diego Padres by parting with David Peterson.
The Padres had two right-handed pitchers in the 1970s from Northern Virginia: Jay Franklin, the second overall pick by San Diego in 1971 out of James Madison High in Vienna; and Clay Kirby, a star at what was then Washington & Lee High in Arlington.
The San Diego Padres are heading into 2026 in a period of transition. Former manager Mike Shildt has retired, with Craig Stammen stepping in to lead the club. The roster is expected to undergo significant turnover as payroll flexibility remains tight, and several players are likely to depart via free agency.
