Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the Atlantic Ocean and is forecast to strengthen into the first hurricane of the Atlantic season by Wednesday.

As temperatures continue to heat up this summer, hurricane season is heating up as well. It’s still the first half of the season, but we’re quickly approaching the peak and the Atlantic is starting to look the part.

A small yet organized tropical storm, Erin was holding maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour just west of the Cabo Verde islands on Monday. This is the farthest named storm of the 2025 Atlantic season to date, giving plenty of runway for the storm to further intensify.
