Some grocery stores are reporting a limited egg supply due to avian influenza, which is also known as bird flu.

Publix reported experiencing egg shortages in its Florida stores due to the Avian Bird Flu (HPAI) outbreak, which is creating a high demand for eggs.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – South Florida shoppers have been on an egg hunt at local Publix stores after finding empty shelves. The Lakeland-based grocer said there’s a shortage due to the bird flu outbreak. The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported.

The empty shelves in scattered locations around the country come as more than 150 million chickens and turkeys have been killed.
