An Israeli airstrike hit a police station in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday, killing at least 10 people, local health authorities said, and Israel's military said it had struck a command centre of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad groups.

On Wednesday, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said more than 90 percent of homes in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged during the Israeli onslaught. "With nowhere safe to go, families shelter in unsafe ruins," it noted. "IOM has shelter aid ready—entry points must open NOW."

The death toll from Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since Thursday morning has reached 52 people, 39 of whom have been killed in strikes on Gaza City and northern areas of the enclave, Al Jazeera broadcaster reported,
