Jeannie Seely, the soulful country music singer behind such standards like "Don't Touch Me," has died. She was 85.

Stand-up comedian Dustin "Dusty" Slay, known for hislaidback, working-class comedy style, is coming to Nashville'sZanies Comedy Night Club starting in August.

She was the first woman to regularly host and emcee shows at the Opry, something unheard of at the time. In total, she appeared on the Opry stage more than 5,000 times.

Seely was married to the late singer Hank Cochran and later married Gene Ward, a Nashville attorney, who passed away in December 2024.

Mandy Barnett, a member of the Opry whose pipes often bring the sounds of the past resounding to its audiences, will perform for her hometown Aug. 23 at the Cumberland County Playhouse.
