A black and white cat has been picked up by guards at a prison in Costa Rica and found to be carrying some hefty contraband.

Video has emerged showing Costa Rican prison officials catching a cat with packages of illegal drugs strapped to its body.

The justice ministry shared a video of the cat, which was carrying over 230 grams of marijuana and 67 grams of crack cocaine.

The Public Security Ministry said it had never recorded another seizure of the animals, whicgh are a non-native species in Costa Rica.
