Maine Democratic Party convention-goers were relieved to focus on the general election, but some had mixed feelings about their prospects against GOP Sen. Susan Collins.
"His approach is like trying to cover up an outrageous tattoo,” Collins said about Graham Platner. “You can paint over it, but we all know what's underneath.”
The senator voted with Democrats to advance a resolution that would have stopped U.S. involvement until Congress authorized it.
Sen. Susan Collins said she would oppose authorizing U.S. military hostilities in Iran beyond 60 days, unless extraordinary circumstances arise.
Collins and Republican Sen. Rand Paul voted with most Democrats to discharge the resolution from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but it still failed by a vote of 47-50.
