The West Nile Virus has been detected in a mosquito sample in Mercer County, and residents are advised to take extra precautions to reduce mosquito breeding habitat and prevent bites.

According to the CDC, 26 states have reported cases of West Nile, which is spread through mosquito bites. St. Luke's says it believes its case is the first in the region. But Ender says most people infected won't need to be hospitalized.
