Rochester police identified a 64-year-old as the man who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening on Broadway Avenue South.

The Rochester Police Department says Phillip Abbot, 64 of Rochester, was crossing Broadway Avenue S. outside of a crosswalk near 19 th Street SE. Officers say Abbot was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by Paul Brooks, 40 of Rochester. The fatal collision happened around 5:40 pm Wednesday.

Police say a man was attempting to cross Broadway Avenue South when a vehicle struck him just before 5:45 p.m.

The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Broadway Avenue South near 19th Street Southeast when a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road, according to a Rochester Police Department release.

S hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. Police say life-saving measures were performed but the pedestrian, an adult male, died at the scene.
