As ice and snow begin to accumulate on roadways across the St. Louis region, driving has become more treacherous, and conditions will only worsen throughout the day Sunday.

Metro East drivers face delays and poor road conditions as a snowstorm blankets the St. Louis area, affecting major highways and interstates.

The Kansas City area is expected to get between 8 and 12 inches of snow, and areas to the north could see even more — 15 to 16 inches, maybe 18 inches, for those near U.S. 136 in northern Missouri. Those south of Interstate 70 will likely see between 3 and 8 inches of snow.

Road crews on both sides of the river are battling the latest round of winter weather, with MoDOT and IDOT crews working 12-hour shifts to clear roadways and plow snow from the roadway routinely.
