Donald Trump has his first major legislative victory of his second presidential term.The "big, beautiful bill", as he calls it, is a sprawling package that includes many key pieces of his agenda – delivering on promises he made on the campaign trail.

Brian Fitzpatrick, a Pennsylvania Republican who is one of the most moderate in his party, was a surprising 'no' vote against advancing the bill. Unlike other Republicans who have voted 'no' and are now being courted in person by House Republican leaders, Fitzpatrick raced off the floor and away from the chamber after he voted no.

The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday advanced President Donald Trump's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill, a procedural step setting the stage for possible passage of the legislation in a vote expected later in the day.
