Starting pitcher Michael Soroka is heading to the injured list after exiting his first start as a member of the Chicago Cubs early on Monday.

New Chicago Cubs starter Mike Soroka left his first game with his new team with right shoulder discomfort and will require a stint on the injured list.

The Cubs acquired right-hander Michael Soroka ahead of last week’s Trade Deadline with the idea that he could offer depth for both the rotation and bullpen. That plan is now in flux following a setback in the pitcher’s debut for the ballpark on Monday night.
