A suspected shooter near the campuses of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University is dead and one law enforcement officer is injured after police responded to reports of an active shooter Friday,

Emory University said it had an active shooter on its Atlanta campus. The school advised people to avoid the area and shelter in place in a post on its website Friday night. It lifted the shelter in place order roughly an hour later but said a police emergency was ongoing.
