Roughly 100 American troops deployed to Nigeria, almost two months after the U.S. carried out several strikes in the country.

While National Guard troops have quietly left Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland, Oregon, thousands remain in three other U.S. cities.

The 200 troops will supplement a small team of American military officers already embedded with Nigerian forces.

Around 250 soldiers from the Iowa National Guard's 2nd Brigade Combat Team are returning to the U.S. as part of a phased return from their deployment.
