Los Angeles home prices show signs of softening as new listings trend below current medians. HW Data tracks activity last week.

The three counties closest to the fires – Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange – saw rent decreases in just six of the 30 cities tracked. In the 20 cities in San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, rents fell in 14 of them.

The supply of fresh rental units, which make up the bulk of new housing in Los Angeles, is petering out despite robust demand.
