The season’s first winter storm is on the move, set to arrive Tuesday afternoon—but not before some messy weather hits on Sunday.
A winter storm will deliver a punch of snow to millions in the Northeast after it dumps more white stuff on the snowy Midwest.
The storm is expected to bring accumulating snow and icy conditions from Kansas into New England, where winter storm warnings are in effect across the region.
The narrowest and heaviest band of snow is predicted inland, to the west of the major Northeastern metropolitan areas. Most precipitation is expected to conclude by Tuesday night, according to William Churchill, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center.
At least one storm this weekend could bring the first measurable snowfall to some areas near the mid-Atlantic and New England coasts, forecasters say.
A winter storm watch has been issued in Western Franklin; Eastern Franklin, Northern Worcester, Central Middlesex County, Western Essex; Western Hampshire, Western Hampden, Eastern Hampshire, Eastern Hampden, Southern Worcester, and Northwest Middlesex County through 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3.

Connecticut may see its first real round of winter weather for the season in the coming days, as a storm tracks up the East Coast. The National Weather Service said the storm is expected to hit Connecticut Tuesday into Tuesday night, bringing a mix of rain and snow to the state.
The National Weather Service states that a snowstorm is "any storm that produces snow," which can form "anytime, anywhere." A nor'easter is a little different.
A potential nor’easter could leave as much as a foot of snow in the Poconos in Pennsylvania, the Catskills in New York, and parts of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, a forecaster said.
