It's been confirmed that Netflix considered buying Disney, Marvel Studios, and Star Wars before ultimately shifting its focus to acquiring Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO.

Netflix making a play for Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO already feels like a massive turning point for Hollywood, but it turns out this was not the streamer’s first stop while scouting for a major acquisition.

Discovery comes with world-class (intellectual property), including streaming service HBO Max; Detective Comics content such as “Batman,” “Joker” and Superman”; “Game of Thrones,” “Harry Potter” and “The Sopranos.

Does Disney CEO Bob Iger favor a Netflix or Paramount Skydance deal with Warner Bros. Discovery? “We haven’t determined whether we will take a position or not,” Iger said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” Thursday.

Before Netflix bought Warner Bros., the streaming giant reportedly had its sights set on another major studio: Disney. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Netflix had previously considered buying Disney, along with a number of other media companies, but had always ultimately decided against it.

Paramount offered to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in an all-cash deal that values the latter at $108.4 billion, while Netflix’s offer valued WBD at an enterprise value of $82.7 billion, but excluded the spinoff company.
