Google is working on an improved version of the shortcuts button for the Search widget on Android that gives you access to more tools.

The Google app widget on Android now supports custom shortcuts, allowing users to quickly access frequently used apps and services directly from their home screen. Users can select from nine different shortcuts,

Rarely do we see updates to apps that add minor changes that turn out to be a big deal, but I think we may have that today with an update rolling out to the Google App and its Google Search widget on Android.

Google is a lot of things, but it started as a search company. It often seems to forget that people want to use Google Search and don't care about ads or AI or any of the other things Google loves to do.
