U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Taiwan had taken semiconductor chip business away from the United States and that he wanted it back.

Taiwanese officials, facing a more transactional U.S. relationship, have traveled to Washington to float energy deals and defend the island’s semiconductors.

Various US government websites have been scrubbed of key information since Donald Trump began his second term, but the State Department has not overhauled its Taiwan factsheet webpage as of February 14.

Prime Minister Modi said India aims to double trade with the US by 2030. He posted on X, calling his meeting with Trump “excellent” and a boost to ties.
