In what might be a first in spaceflight history, the next crew to launch to the International Space Station has adopted a mission patch that began with ideas put forth by an AI.

When a mission known as Crew-10 launches as early as Wednesday, its arrival in orbit will allow for the crew of the Boeing Starliner to come home.

NASA and SpaceX on Wednesday night scrubbed the Falcon 9 launch of a flight intended to retrieve from the International Space Station astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have spent nine months in orbit.

NASA astronauts Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Sunita "Suni" Williams are closer to getting home, nine months after arriving on Boeing’s Starliner. A capsule is set to arrive at the space station Thursday.

SpaceX scrubbed its launch to the space station because of a problem with a piece of ground equipment. Once there, the crew will spend six months testing lunar navigation equipment - their arrival will also allow astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunni Williams to come home after nine months in space.

NASA's SpaceX Crew-10 members are suited up and preparing to board the Dragon capsule spacecraft that they hope will take them to the International Space Station later this evening.

A SpaceX mission was canceled on Wednesday to bring home a pair of astronauts who have been on the ISS since June.
