Daryl Morey suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers' 2020 NBA championship's potential asterisk and Stephen A. Smith has taken issue with it.

Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA title in the bubble at Disney World, people have debated where it stands in the hierarchy of recent NBA championships.

At least one NBA executive believes the L.A. Lakers’ NBA championship in the bubble in 2020 should carry an asterisk. Daryl Morey, the President of the Philadelphia 76ers, told The Athletic it should. “Had the Rockets won the title, I absolutely would have celebrated it as legitimate, knowing the immense effort and resilience required,” he said.

As The Athletic's Dan Woike observed, Dončić is on a U.S. tour for Jordan Brand which happens to finish in Los Angeles, a visit that coincides with the first date in which he's eligible to sign an extension. This extension, which would officially keep him out of free agency next summer, could be up to a four-year, $229 million extension.

The Lakers got busy in the summer with notable additions, but there could be more in store before the new season.
