Mexican boxing star Julio César Chávez Jr. has been deported to his native country, where he was subsequently arrested on a warrant accusing him of ties to the Sinaloa cartel.
Boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. was deported from the United States and entered a prison in the northern Mexico state of Sonora, according to the country's national arrest registry. Chávez had been arrested in the U.S. in July and Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Tuesday, Aug. 19 that the 39-year-old had been deported to Mexico.
