Trump’s comments, posted to his social media platform, came a day after 200 Texas National Guard troops under the command of federal officials arrived at a military facility near Joliet over the vehement objections of Pritzker and Johnson.
Illinois and Chicago on Monday had filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration to block sending troops to the city — while the judge assigned to the case said she would not take action until at least Thursday. While speaking to MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff, Pritzker characterized the situation as a “convicted felon” threatening to jail him.
Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson also claps back at the president's threat, saying it's not Trump's first try at wrongly arresting a Black man.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a longtime Trump foe, vowed to sue the administration if it did not back down on its federalization threats.
