A large summer-like ridge of high pressure has produced strong downslope winds along the Front Range and eastern plains of Colorado to kick off the weekend.

The record high temperature for April 12 in Denver was set at 85 degrees in 2023. The average temperature for this time of the year is 61 degrees. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the National Weather Service told FOX31 that 86 degrees was recorded at the Denver International Airport, where official historic records are taken, around 2:45 p.m.

Temperatures in Denver are expected to climb to 86, which would surpass a record daily high of 85 set in 2023.
