Auburn star and national player of the year contender Johni Broome left Saturday's game at South Carolina with a gruesome lower leg injury in the second half after landing awkwardly following his attempt to block a shot.

Auburn’s Johni Broome will not return in Saturday’s game against South Carolina. Broome went down with an ankle injury at the start of the second half. The Auburn big left foot came down on a teammates leg while grabbing a rebound in traffic. Broome was helped off the court and could not put any weight on his ankle.

The last time Auburn had cause for concern was in December when Johni Broome exited the Tigers’ 100-59 win over Georgia State due to a shoulder injury. He returned the next game to score 23 points and secure 11 rebounds in Auburn’s 87-69 win over Purdue in Birmingham on Dec. 21.
